They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and when you're pregnant, this is especially true. Who else wakes up feeling like they are famished beyond belief?! If this is you, we’ve rounded up some great breakfast ideas that are both easy for those on-the-go mornings, healthy, and easy to make too.
If you are in a rush, this is a perfect go-to breakfast. Make hard boiled eggs the night before, and make a lot, so you have a breakfast alternative for more than one morning, or for an easy snack.
To hard boil the eggs, you can do it the old fashioned way of boiling your eggs in water, or try baking your eggs in a muffin tin. Eat 2 with a sprinkle of salt plus some fresh fruit like berries or a grapefruit, and you’ve got yourself a fairly easy and filling breakfast.
Are you a fan of oatmeal? Whether you like them savory or sweet, there are many overnight oat recipes that you can put together the night before to have a hearty, yummy meal the next morning. Here are some of our favorite Overnight Oat recipes:
Vanilla Almond Overnight Oatmeal with Blueberries
Strawberry Shortcake Overnight Oats
Shake and Go Peanut Butter Overnight Oats
This is an easy option when you need a break from your usual go-to breakfast. This always tastes good and refreshing too.
Use a Greek yogurt that is low in sugar- we usually go with a plain flavor and then sweeten it with honey- and combine any berries with it. Top it off with ½ a tablespoon of Chia seeds to give you an extra dose of Omega-3’s that will also keep you full until your next meal.
Need a breakfast that is refreshing and easy? Yes, please! This is pretty simple: combine any of your favorite frozen fruits, a handful of spinach, a splash of orange juice, and handfuls of ice. Use a blender to combine ingredients to your desired consistency.
If you need more specifics, here is another favorite go-to smoothie recipe:
Strawberry Banana Breakfast Smoothie
1 ½ Cup Strawberries
2 Bananas
1 Apple
2 Carrots
Water OR Milk
Blend to combine. Pour into cups. Enjoy!
If you haven’t jumped on the avocado toast bandwagon yet, now’s the time to start! Avocado is nature’s butter, so you can use avocado as a base on toast and it is delicious. To make a yummy breakfast with it, toast a piece of multigrain bread, spread mashed up avocado on it (usually half of an avocado is plenty), then top it with egg whites. Season with salt and pepper. Yum!
Let’s face it: some mornings we just don’t feel like doing ANYTHING in the kitchen, or, we just don’t have time to step foot in the kitchen. For those mornings, grab a banana and some almond butter. Spread almond butter onto the banana and eat. Easy-peasy!
Then there are those mornings that you just want to eat something EXTRA delicious, and for that we love this recipe. It is a recipe that you make ahead the night before, and then all you need to do is throw it in the oven the next morning for 55 minutes. This is a great alternative for a lazy Sunday morning.
