9 Cute Must-Take Photos of your Baby Bump this Holiday Season

December 16, 2016

Being pregnant during the holidays is such a special experience. The anticipation of welcoming a new family member into your life evokes special feelings and emotions you just can’t replicate, but add the warm fuzzies from the joys of Christmas to the mix and you might just wish you could be pregnant all year round! (But probably not.)

Commemorate this special holiday season and have some fun with your pregnant belly through photos with one of these 9 Cute Must-Take Photos of your Baby Bump this Holiday Season.

Christmas Tree Silhouette

Silhouette-style photos are a classic way to really capture the beauty of your pregnancy. Incorporating the soft light from the Christmas tree is a fantastic way to remember your pregnancy during the holidays for years to come. Here's an example from EmiB photography that we just love!

In your Holiday Best

Maternity clothes have come a long way, and there are some breathtakingly beautiful formal maternity gowns that are perfect for holiday parties and events. Be sure to snap a shot of your glowing glam when you get all dressed up for the holidays. We have some awesome examples of flattering maternity holiday dresses on this blog post.

Photo prop your bump

Photo booths are a popular attraction at many holiday parties, but don’t leave baby out of the fun! Take silly pictures with mustaches, glasses, and kissy-lips held up to your baby bump so your little one knows that from an early age, he/she is in for a good time! You can imagine the possibilities with these photo-booth props from Walmart.

Wrap with ribbon

Pregnancy is a gift. And the gift-giving nature of the holidays is a great time to announce your pregnancy. One of our favorite ideas is by wrapping a ribbon around your growing belly with a tag that says, “Do not open until June 2017” (or whenever your due date is). Take a photo and send it as your Christmas card.

Dress up as the Grinch

If you have a tacky sweater party or just want an excuse to play the part, find yourself a Grinch mask, grab a green sweater and let your pregnant belly do the work. You can’t deny the striking resemblance specifically in the, well, abdominal region.

Mistletoe kiss

This is my favorite, ever. Daddy already loves his little sweetheart, so let the baby in on the traditional mistletoe kiss. This also makes for a great announcement photo, or another frame-worthy photo for your annual holiday décor. Here's an awesome example from Tenley Clark's blog.

Rudolph

You know what that pregnancy belly button is perfect for? A reindeer nose. If you’re into painting and showing off your bare belly, this would be a relatively easy design to paint on, otherwise you could easily find a cute sweater or shirt to make into a reindeer.

Ornamental Bump

Another adorable photo pose is to embellish your belly like an ornament. Taking advantage of all of the round resemblances you can, this one is super cute for photos or just for your own keepsake. Frame it for a fun, memorable addition to your yearly décor so you’ll always remember the special holiday season when you were pregnant. We love this pre-made shirt from Etsy, but you could easily paint it on yourself, as well!

Playing in the Snow

Snow makes for a great backdrop! Make snow angels with your family, and make a mini-one for your little angel who’s close to making their grand entrance. You can write your family name in the snow, your due date, or any other memorable phrase to include in your picture.
