From One Mom To Another: My Go-To Mother’s Day Gift Guide!

May 5, 2023

Alexis McMullin (@alexismaymcmullin) is a content creator, wife and mother to Penny & August.

I can’t believe it’s already Mother’s Day and really can’t believe it’s my first one with two kids! Every year (for the past few) seems to have been the best one yet, and this year feels no different. As my husband and I come into Mother’s Day, we’re also starting a new era; our first baby Penny just moved into her “big girl bed” and is starting to potty train, and our second baby August is starting to crawl!

What do I want for Mother’s Day? A lot of hugs and kisses and snuggles, and maybe some time to sleep in and have breakfast in bed. But the most important thing I want is for my children to be healthy and happy! I’ve been really grateful for Owlet, which has great products that have helped with both! I think it’s totally fine to get yourself a Mother’s Day gift, and if it’s something you use for your babies, that is great! Keep reading for my top Mother’s Day gifts!

Heartfelt Presents

  • Etsy Gift Card: I love having cute, handmade items and there is no better place for this than Etsy. A gift card from Etsy is of my favorite gifts to receive and I think any mom would love it too.

  • Storyworth: Amazingly beautiful memory books! Storyworth emails you questions that you fill out, and then they compile your life stories together into really amazing books that look so nice and can be kept forever.

  • Artifact Uprising Photo Book: I love having nice books with nice photos, and these customizable photo books are simply the best. It’s so great to have something that lasts, looks chic and reminds you of all the amazing times of being a mama!

Fashion and Beauty Gift Inspo

  • Mejuri Daily Medium Hoops: I love these hoop earrings; they really are daily go-tos! Mejuri is always on my husband Brad’s radar when it comes to any of my gift inspo (I’m hoping for something from them this Mother’s Day too 😊).

  • OSEA Undaria Algae Body Oil: This body oil is amazing! I love everything from OSEA, but this is the one product I would recommend. This oil is infused with seaweed, vitamins and minerals, and is meant to give your face a more toned, sculpted look. It’s clean and moisturizing and you’ll love it.

  • Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil: This is a classic - not much else needs to be said! Any mom will feel spoiled with this.

  • GOOPGLOW Microderm Instant Glow Exfoliator: Such a good exfoliator! It's kind of expensive so it’s an investment, but it’s a really good product. They say it’s a “powerful facial in a little jar” – perfect for Mother’s Day.

Gifts for Around the Home

  • Ruffage: A Practical Guide to Vegetables Cookbook: This cookbook has been so amazing, not only for yummy (and healthy) recipes, but also because it’s a really pretty cookbook to have on display in the kitchen! I'm a big fan of Ruffage!

  • Gjusta Goods Adjustable Linen Apron: Make cooking or baking cute! Being in the kitchen somehow seems more fun when you have cute accessories. I love this apron!

  • Caraway Cookware: I LOVE this cookware. It looks so nice, functions well, and has been a joy to use. If you’re cooking for your kids, you’ll love using this!

The Ultimate Mother’s Day Present

Peace of mind for mom is the best gift of all. Here are some of my favorites from Owlet:

  • The Owlet Dream Sock: It’s important to know your children are sleeping well, especially when your baby is little. For a while, my youngest August kept trying to roll over onto his tummy at night and the Dream Sock helped us catch that! The Dream Sock tracks Sleep Quality Indicators including average oxygen level, heart rate, wakings, movements and more, so you can rest assured that your little one is sleeping well.

  • The Owlet Dream Sleeper with Swaddle: Sleep sacks also helped August and are so comfy for him. It’s nice to have one that’s easy to access and change his diaper or do anything if we need to at night without waking him up (sleep is another thing I really want for Mother’s Day!).

  • The Owlet Cam – Now that Penny is in a big girl bed and can walk around, it’s even more important to see what she’s up to! This camera is amazing.
