Owlet Cares supports our overall mission through advocacy, charitable and research initiatives that support families and communities. We partner with nonprofits all over the world who share our mission. These groups participate in our 2:1 match program. When they purchase one Owlet product, we match it with two meaning three families are reached.
Each month, we shine a spotlight on one of our foundation partners and the important work they are doing. This month, we’d like to introduce you to Lincoln’s Angels of New York. In the founder, Jessica Kellogg’s words, here is their story:
Lincoln’s Angels was formed in honor of my son who passed away in 2018 during his nap at daycare when he was 4 months old.
Lincoln was a decade of infertility, surgeries, and in-vitro fertilization in the making.
He was born, quite fittingly, on Thanksgiving day in 2017. He was our world. He had the most infectious giggle that I have ever heard. His smile would literally light up any room. He was too perfect for earth.
On April 3, 2018, I dropped Lincoln off at his second day of daycare after going back to work. I was never prepared to receive a frantic phone call telling me that Lincoln wasn’t breathing and that I needed to meet the ambulance at the emergency room.
After countless tries, the doctors were unable to bring Lincoln back to us. There is no feeling quite like hearing the words that your son has passed away. There are no words to describe the hours that ensued. Having to call friends and family and actually say the words “Lincoln passed away.” The grief is something I will live with until I take my dying breath.
A few months after Lincoln passed away, my Mom was researching SIDs and came across the Owlet sock. She owns a medical supply company and she reached out to Owlet to see if she could carry this product in her store. She wanted to make sure that this tragedy did not happen to any other families. She shared the details of the Owlet sock with me. My brain started spinning and I thought, “how can we get these in the hands of EVERY family with a baby?” That is when Lincoln’s Angels was born. I formed Lincoln’s Angels to donate Owlet socks to families who had lost a child and were now expecting, as well as to families who could not financially afford an Owlet.
To date, we have donated almost 500 Owlet socks to families in need.
When I became pregnant in 2021 with my daughter, I knew that the Owlet sock would be something that she lived in. I cannot even begin to describe the anxiety I felt throughout my pregnancy and once she was born. I was absolutely terrified of something happening to her.
She had a brief NICU stay which heightened my anxiety even more. The Owlet was the first thing to come out of my hospital bag. It was on her as soon as she was in our room. It was, and still is, our life line. I can say, without a doubt, that the only reason I have slept in the last 10 months is because of the Owlet. The peace of mind that it gives me is hard to put into words.I truly do not believe that I would have been able to have another baby if it were not for the peace of mind that the Owlet brings me.
I am so thankful to use this product and to work with Owlet to provide socks to families in need.
