So you just had a baby... congratulations! But now you're wondering how to get out of the house without sweltering in the summer heat. Never fear! Here are five ways to have summertime fun with your new baby:
1. Never underestimate the awesomeness of a kiddie pool.
Especially this magical unicorn
complete with spraying tail. Or even bring your baby's bathtub outside for a less intimidating dip. While this option might not get you far from the house, it's a great way to enjoy being outside and still feeling cool. And, you're close enough that you don't have to skip nap time. Pick a nice, shady spot in your yard and have fun!
2. A breakfast picnic is the best kind of picnic.
Why? Well, because breakfast is obviously the best meal of the day, and the morning is cooler than the rest of the day. So you can take your baby to a nearby park with some delicious pastries (or bagels) and a comfy blanket, and have some bonding time.
3. Car rides to procure caffeine are refreshing and recharging.
Whether it's a carbonated beverage or an iced tea or coffee, sometimes a car ride to get some caffeine is necessary. Especially if a drive-thru is involved. That way, you get out of the house, stay cool in the air conditioning, but don't have to go out in public. (Sometimes the last thing you want to do is go out in public.)
4. Aquariums are cool in multiple ways.
In that, you get to stay cool inside and see cool fish. If you're worried about germs, you can take your stroller, or put baby in her wrap or carrier while you explore the sea life.
5. Mommy/Daddy and me yoga gives you exercise for the body and mind.
Check with your local yoga studio to see if they hold mommy/daddy and baby yoga classes. Said classes are a great way to get out, get centered and bond with your babe. It's also a great way to get back in touch with your postpartum body.
