Owlet's mission is to empower parents to give care at home. Owlet Cares supports our overall mission through advocacy, charitable and research initiatives that support families and communities. We partner with nonprofits all over the world who share our mission. These groups participate in our 3:1 match program. When they purchase one Owlet product, we match it with two meaning three families are reached.

The work being done by Owlet Cares foundation partners extends far beyond donating product. Many of them provide valuable education and support to new parents, and offer meaningful resources to parents who have lost a child.

Briggs & Barrett Project of Nebraska is one of our partners and recently they’ve been hard at work sharing the news about Owlet’s recently FDA-Cleared BabySat™ Monitoring System. In the co-founder’s own words, this is what the new device means for their community.

As a mom who lost a baby, I think often, “What if?”

That “what if” is what fuels our work at Briggs & Barrett Project - a nonprofit founded by two families who lost babies with a mission to provide newborn parents with SIDS and SUID education, tools, and resources. Part of our programming includes partnering with Owlet to deliver Socks to families all over the country. To date, we have donated more than 2,000 Socks.

With the announcement of Owlet’s FDA-cleared BabySat™ device, so many of my “what ifs” feel like they are being answered in a big way.

"What if medical providers were able to provide at-home monitoring for families with a prescription medical device?" That’s BabySat.

"What if families were given the right information at the right time to make informed decisions about their baby’s health?" That’s BabySat.

"What if families with sick babies or babies who need extra monitoring for whatever reason, could have some extra peace of mind at home?" BabySat will do that.

As we work closely with medical providers in our community and share the good news about BabySat, we have found many who share in our excitement.

Pediatrician Dr. Erin Pierce told us she was giddy over the BabySat news. “This is really important and something I feel like we’ve needed for a long time. The BabySat sock is going to revolutionize how we take care of our patients. My job as a pediatrician is to make a lifelong relationship with both the patient… and the parents. Having a piece of medical equipment in the home like the BabySat Sock is really going to bring a lot of peace of mind to parents,” says Pierce.

We hear time and time again how impactful the Sock has been and we can’t wait to talk to parents as BabySat becomes a reality, starting first with expectant mothers and fathers. Our partner Dr. Alex Laundenklos told us, “My initial thoughts about BabySat is it’s going to be a game changer for the medical community from a pediatric standpoint. From a parent perspective, having babies with RSV or influenza, you’re going to be able to monitor those babies at home with a lot more reassurance and peace of mind,” says Dr. Laudenklos, OBGYN.

As we are driven by the possibility of “what if every baby had access to a Sock”, the news of Owlet’s first prescription medical device makes this dream seem like more of a reality, and we are so thrilled to be a partner in this step of Owlet’s journey.
